Helena Elementary School

Helena Elementary School is a public elementary school located south of Birmingham in Shelby County, Alabama. The school serves pre-kindergarten students through second grade. The school year is 175 days and students attend from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Helena Elementary School has two full time administrators, one guidance counselor and forty-nine certificated teachers. The enrollment is approximately 680 students. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The city of Helena has experienced tremendous growth due to the development of numerous residential subdivisions and growth will continue with many new homes planned for construction within the next five years. Based on the Census Report of 2000, the total population of the city was 10, 296.
