Valley Elementary School
Valley Elementary was established in 1964 with only 10
teachers and six grades. Since then, Valley has been
a school of continual change. The population of
Valley grew to 1,000 students and an intermediate
school was built in 2000. At that time Valley became
a primary school housing kindergarten, first, and
second grades.
We house
approximately 715 students in grades K-2 and have 46
certified teachers. We are located off Highway 31
just south of the Highway 31/Highway 119
intersection.
Math
concepts are introduced with manipulatives in
kindergarten through second grade. The MacGraw Hill
math program is the adopted math program. Social
sciences are also stressed.
The
automated media center serves as the hub of the
instructional program and provides easy access to a
variety of materials, including CD-ROMs, video
disks, computers and periodicals.
Talents
Unlimited, a program which improves students'
critical and creative thinking skills within the
framework of the regular curriculum is implemented
throughout the school. In addition, Valley is an
Alabama Reading Initiative Site.
